The skinny on F.A.T.

Good grief, is she seriously going to do another post on weight?  Its Christmas isn't it?  Can't she just let me eat my fudge and leave my perceptions a.l.o.n.e. until at least the new year?

NO

Because I was running today and had a series of thoughts that I think skinny people need to know about fat people.

Like it or not, here they are:

When you see an overweight person it sort of 'upsets' you right?  Why?  Why exactly does it give you the same feeling, as say, seeing a homeless person?

Is it because you think that person is lazy, or unmotivated, or over indulgent, or lousy?

No?

Let me explain why you get that feeling.

It is because you are literally seeing PAIN.  Every ounce on the outside of their body is a visible version of terrible pain.  The kind of pain that would kill you if on the inside so it manifests itself on the outside of the body instead of the soul.

It is so much pain that the body does not have the capacity to hold it, so instead it 'carries' it around.

OUTSIDE

The next time you see someone who is fighting with their weight.  I want you to think of this post.  I want you to know the reason you feel unsettled and upset when you see it.

It is because it is so much pain that they lost the ability to hide it like the rest of us.  Its more than you could take, or they could take or anyone could take.  So it is visible to you.

Know that next time and judge wisely.  Act kindly.  Behave as if you know what I just told you.

Because its true.

Florence and the Machine sang this song -EXACTLY FOR ME- (okay, so i changed a couple of words) 2012 Mantra

Happiness, hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her, stuck still no turning back
She hid around corners and she hid under beds
She killed it with kisses and from it she fled
With every bubble she sank with a drink
And washed it away down the kitchen sink

The dark days are over
The dark days are done
The horses are coming
So you better run

Run fast for your mother run fast for your father
Run for your children for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and your longing behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive

The dark days are over
The dark days are done
Can you hear the horses
'Cause here they come

And I never wanted anything from you
Except everything you had
And what was left after that too. oh.

Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back
Struck from a great height
By someone who should know better than that

The dark days are over
The dark days are gone
Can you hear the horses
'Cause here they come

Run fast for your mother and fast for your father
Run for your children for your sisters and brothers
Leave all your love and
your longing behind you
Can't carry it with you if you want to survive

The dark days are over
The dark days are gone
Can you hear the horses
Because here they come

The dark days are over
The dark days are gone

Can you hear the horses
Because here they come
